In the ever-expanding world of digitizing we secure the new emerging society. Nexus’ Smart ID solutions are transforming how we perceive trusted identities for people and things. That journey begins with our awesome engineering teams. For the next step in this journey we are looking for a leader who wants to help us form a new team within our Identity Management area.
Nexus Identity Manager is used for managing secure identities for people and hardware resources all over the world. It supports very large enterprises in securing their assets, information and facilities.
Adam Lundqvist, leading our development department, is looking for an experienced leader within software development to take on the very honorary task of leading a newly formed team (the team members are already Nexonians, but it will be a new constellation).
We are offering you a chance to be part of a product/service company, just when the tech is starting to take off. Even though PKI has been around for decades, only NOW is the market really starting to understand the need for it. Billions of IoT devices, Zero trust and Deep fake put pressure on society to evolve the next generation of secure identities, and we are in the midst of it. And you can be in the middle of Nexus, furthering our core portfolio.
This role is based in Ettlingen / Karlsruhe in Germany, but we are a global player with 300 employees, distributed across Europe and Asia.
What will you be doing at Nexus?
This is a multi-function role; your prime objective will be to be a great leader for a great team. This includes day-to-day stuff like stand-ups, supporting the team in making sure they have the right foundation to deliver during the sprints and with other tasks. You will be a problem solver within and outside your team.
As a leader at Nexus, you will be fully responsible for all people management tasks, this includes continuous dialog with the team members in one2ones, performance reviews and syncs. You will also do recruitment, coaching and coordinating for the team. You will always have support from the organization, of course!
You will also work closely with product management to ensure a competitive platform. If the PO is responsible for WHAT we offer, you and your team will be fully responsible for the HOW. This also means close collaboration with other parts of Nexus, like Delivery Operations and Sales. As head of engineering team, you will have plenty of opportunity to take a direct part of the customer experience, with pre-sale support, POCs and implementation discussions. At Nexus, we expect customer engagement from everyone.
We want all our leaders to take part in the hands-on work as well. This part depends on who you are. We are a company in transformation, and you will be able to contribute within many different areas. This could be as an Agile coach, Java developer, DevOps engineer driving the Azure DevOps journey, working with Change- and IT management. Your profile and passions will guide this part.
Who are you?
You can have acquired your greatness in many ways. We are not the kind of company that says that you HAVE to have xx years of experience in a specific technology. But we have some ideas about what we do think is important. The team you will be leading is using Java and for that reason we want you to have a background as a Java developer. We also think you have relevant leader experience and that you enjoy being a leader with full personnel responsibility.
As stated above, we also want you to work hands-on as well as being a leader. Therefore, we want you to be really good in an area other than Management. We also want you to have experience in cloud services and maybe even with the transformation from on-prem to cloud.
The most important thing is who you are. To enjoy your stay at Nexus, we think you should be passionate about development as a craft. This will give you the persistence and the drive to always work toward best practice, take pride in the solution you and your team provide for our amazing customers and it will keep you curious and open-minded to new ways of working.
Nexus Group’s main language is English and you will be able to do a great job with only fluency in English. But the lunch-room language in the Ettlingen office is German, so for your comfort it could be good if you know some German as well.
PS: At Nexus tests are an important part of our recruitment process (more so than the perfect resume) and you will be asked to take several short (and some a bit longer) tests during this process. You will receive more information down the line, but don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
