In the ever-expanding world of digitalization, we secure the new society that is emerging. Nexus’ Smart ID solutions and IoT platforms are transforming how we perceive trusted identities. That journey begins with our awesome engineering teams. Our Düsseldorf team need a highly skilled QA engineer to solve the automation and DevOps quest.
Okay, we need some help! We have really cool products (which we deliver more and more as a Service), competent people and dedicated leaders. But we are not front runners (yet!) when it comes to automated testing, test driven development and QA that fit in the DevOps story. And this is where you come in.
Joachim Kessel, Head of our Development team in Düsseldorf is looking for a QA with some ideas regarding automation, who would like to help the team to become more automated in the quest for flawless releases.
What will you be doing at Nexus?
The Düsseldorf team is just embarking on a new journey to become the Smart ID integration team, providing connectors to external and internal systems. We need a new QA to complete the team and to ensure that the setup is right from the start. You will participate in the entire development process starting from technology choices until automated testing and deployment.
You will be the go-to person regarding testing and automation, driving yourself and the team towards complete coverage of test automation. In other words, you will be the QA evangelist ensuring the team is true believers. We work as a team, that means close collaboration, possibility to work on multiple parts of the flow and a team end-to-end responsibility for the entire product. Agile methods, quality-first development and continuous delivery is part of the team DNA.
The team also is responsible for some end-of-life platforms where we do a couple of bug- and feature releases a month. You will of course work hands on to ensure flawless quality in those products as well. If the future is fully automated, the legacy is not. Here you will have a solid ground to stand on, but you will need to dedicate some love and care with these products as well for the next year or so. This means writing test cases and running the test sequences and reporting back to the team.
Your contribution to the team
- Working with cross functional teams to deliver a world-class product with high quality
- Ensuring, quality standards and principles are used throughout the development life-cycle
- Developing strategies for automated tests and higher automation test coverage
- Writing automated tests and automating deployments
- Analysing complex system behaviours, performance and application issues

Who are you?
We believe you are a skilled QA Engineer with several years of experience with automated testing and exposure to manual testing as well. And you think automation is the future (you are not lazy, you’re just smart!) and you firmly believe that cooperation and team work is the way to success. Continuous improvement, working closely together and discussions are the way to learn from each other.
If you have experience in security and/or in cloud technologies, that’s great, otherwise we at least expect a strong interest and willingness to learn!
You are good at managing yourself, to see what needs to be done and to make sure it happens. Own It is one of your core values as well as a guiding principle at Nexus. People would describe you as a bit nerdy within your field, but that is just because they don’t understand that you are passionate about the most important part of Development, to ensure that the cool ideas actually work for the customers!
